In 2015, I became the proud recipient of the George R. Esterly Memorial Scholarship.  At the time, I was unemployed, and the scholarship helped me stay in school to continue my M.B.A. studies.  Now, not only am I am halfway to getting my degree, I am also employed by the university.

Thank you so much to everyone who made the scholarship possible!

I am writing to thank you for awarding me your generous $1,000 George R. Esterly Memorial Scholarship. I was very happy and appreciative to learn that I was selected as a recipient.

I am currently a second year MBA student carrying 17 credits, and plan to graduate in the spring of 2014. After graduating from Rutgers Business School, I plan to begin a career exploring the digital space and utilizing my understanding of the consumer journey, analytics and digital marketing to craft strategies that will result in the optimal use of resources and higher ROI. Thanks to you, I am one step closer to that goal.

By awarding me the George R. Esterly Memorial Scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of business school, learning. Your generosity is truly appreciated. I will continue to give back to the community and help other students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

George Esterly Scholarship Fall 2013
My name is Brian Luck, and I am an MBA Student at Rutgers Business School (RBS). I will be graduating in May 2013 with concentrations in Finance and Management & Business Strategy.

One of the reasons I chose to come to RBS is the exceptional ROI. RBS offers outstanding educational, career service, and networking opportunities all at a fraction of the cost of other top schools.

Still, figuring out how to finance my education– even with loans available – as a full time student who will graduate with
63 credits has sometimes been a challenge. The support of RBSAA’s Scholarship Committee has definitely assisted me in being able to continue to attend school on a full-time basis, while still being able to devote time to some of my other passions such as ice hockey and volunteering.

I have grown both personally and professionally more that I could have imagined in my two years at RBS. The scholarships I’ve received through RBSAA have definitely enhanced my experience at RBS by enabling me to maintain focus on my coursework as well as a healthy study / life balance. I am very much appreciative of RBSAA and the donors who made this happen, and I hope to be able to give back and support RBS students in similar situations as my career grows.

George Esterly Scholarship Spring 2013
Beyond my life as a student in Rutgers Business School's Flex-MBA program, I am also a full-time Public Relations professional.

Balancing the two has been extremely rewarding, yet doesn't come without its challenges. Having the support of the RBSAA's Scholarship Committee in matching generous donors with students like me, has been greatly appreciated. In addition to the honor of receiving the scholarship, it has also allowed me to focus my spare time on some of my passions beyond work and school- traveling, triathlons and marathons.

George Esterly Scholarship Spring 2013

My name is Richard Chan, I graduated with a Bachelors in Economics and IT in ‘06 and I am currently a RBS MBA student concentrating in Finance and Accounting hoping to finish by 2014. I would like to express my gratitude for the scholarship that you have awarded me. Being the first generation in my family to pursue both college and graduate level education has made me realize how lucky I am to have academics in my life.

I choose RBS because it was my alma mater and the opportunities that I’ve had coming out of undergrad was nothing less of extraordinary. I’ve been a New Jersey native most of my life and coming to RBS has allowed me to stay near my roots while also being able to stay near some of the biggest companies on the northeast. I think the ROI and the list of successful alumni for at the school is unparalleled. But the best for me is being able to connect with all the hardworking and talented classmates.

Because of the support that I have had coming out of Rutgers, I’ve had some great opportunities working for some amazing companies such as Verizon, Dow Jones, and The Wall Street Journal. Currently, I am a Finance Associate at Automatic Data Processing supporting some great leadership. My future aspirations are to continue to help companies and their communities grow, and to eventually be able to teach what I know. Rutgers, the staff, and RBSAA have allowed me to get one step closer to my goal and inspired me to be much more.

Thank you,

George Esterly Scholarship Spring 2013
My name is Ola Ramadan and I am an MBA student at Rutgers Business School (RBS) where I will be graduating in 2014. After graduating with an undergraduate degree in Engineering and several years of work experience I decided it would be a great time to go back to school and pursue an MBA degree to help me make that next jump in my career.

Since I have been a resident of New Jersey for several years, I decided to find out more about the RBS MBA program. After attending an Open House and speaking with students and admissions I knew that I wanted to attend RBS. The quality of the MBA program (#3 on Gartner’s list for Supply Chain), the return on my investment, the positive comments I heard from students who had been through the program were some of the reasons I chose RBS. Recently I started my second semester and I have been very pleased with my choice and I believe it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I have had great professors. They have challenged me academically and brought their real life experiences to the classroom. I have also made great friends with different backgrounds and experiences that have really enriched my life.

From the time I started my first small business as a child I knew I wanted to pursue an MBA degree, it was just a matter of when would be the appropriate time and how would I finance my education in such a way that I did not feel overwhelmed and overburdened with debt after graduation.

Through the support of the scholarships I have received I feel that I am well on my way to achieving my goals. The scholarship money has relieved me of a substantial financial burden and allowed me to focus on my studies. I am very appreciative to all the generous donors that contribute to the many scholarships offered by Rutgers; it is because of their generosity and continued support that lifelong dreams can be achieved.
