In 2015, I became the proud recipient of the George R. Esterly Memorial Scholarship.  At the time, I was unemployed, and the scholarship helped me stay in school to continue my M.B.A. studies.  Now, not only am I am halfway to getting my degree, I am also employed by the university.

Thank you so much to everyone who made the scholarship possible!

Dear Rutgers Business School Alumni Association,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in funding the George R.
Esterly Memorial Scholarship. As one of this year's recipients, I am grateful for the financial
support this award will provide me. Receiving this scholarship will help reduce my financial
obligations to the University and provide assistance as I continue to pursue my MBA degree.

One of the primary reasons that I have decided to pursue an MBA degree is to help advance my career. I am interested in the complexities and intricacies of the business world and I am fascinated by how flexible and ever-changing it is. Having completed three semesters of the program, it is clear that MBA classes at Rutgers University provide numerous opportunities for me to polish my business acumen, and to allow me to build a network of professionals who can share their experiences and provide advice and mentorship. I also believe that the MBA program will improve my communication skills, expand my managerial qualifications and educate me on leadership and strategy. I hope that by completing the program I will show my current employer that I am willing to continuously grow and develop myself and that I am a strong candidate for higher level positions within the company.

Growing up in a rural area of Poland, I learned early on that education and hard work are important factors of becoming successful in life. My family moved to the United States when I was 16 years old and we did not have the financial security to live comfortably. Understanding that my family could not afford to pay tuition on top of our daily expenses, I knew that I needed to finance the cost of college education myself. During the course of four years after I graduated high school, I spent all my weekends working in a restaurant as a waitress and all my summers at various odd jobs. I took out an additional loan every year to ensure that my tuition bill can be paid in full. I then continued to hold my waitressing job even after I graduated college with a Bachelor's degree and began to work full-time in public accounting.

Holding two jobs at the same time, one full-time and one part-time on the weekends was extremely challenging but allowed me to pay back all my college loans in less than one year. Although it is six years later now, my decision to go back to school means that once again, I need to cover all tuition expenses on my own.

I am truly grateful for the assistance as it eases the financial burden of continuing my education, one that I have carried on my own shoulders since I was a young adult.

Thank you again for the generous contribution which made this scholarship possible.

Sincerely,

Nieszka Szczurko

Dear Rutgers Business School Alumni Association,

I would like to take the opportunity to personally thank you for selecting me as a recipient of the George R. Easterly Memorial Fellowship for the Fall 2016 semester. With this award I will be able to register for class this fall and continue pursuing my MBA.

I have had a very difficult time financially supporting my family and myself while pursuing the graduate program and applied for the scholarship in hopes that I would be able to enroll this fall.

Thanks to your scholarship I am registering for the Global Management Strategy course and will be declaring my area of concentration in Supply Chain and Global Business. It cannot be over-emphasized how much my family and I are grateful for your scholarship. My family has asked me to send their highest regards and appreciation for making my enrollment this fall possible.

My experience at Rutgers has been nothing shy of amazing from the administration, professors, students and overall environment.

Thank you again for your generosity and assisting me in pursuit of higher education.

Sincerely,

Anton Kogan
